Erica Sylvie Astrove has a background in landscape design, horticulture, floristry, painting, photography, and writing. She has a Masters of Landscape Architecture from FIU, a BFA in Painting and Creative Writing from MICA, and was Landscape Design Certified at The New York Botanical Garden, as well as Horticultural Staff of The Native Garden. She was born and raised in South Florida, is passionate about the environment, and inspired by its tropical botanicals, coastal ecology, and native flora of the Everglades. She was shaped as well by cross-cultural experiences such as art education summer residencies in Thailand & Italy, and her time working on the island of Antigua. She has an appreciation of history and culture, of interactions between people and plants, and of designing landscapes that value beauty and habitat. She is pursuing ASLA licensure and ISA Arborist Certification, and aims to bring more creativity and sustainability practices to landscape design, as well as harmony and balance to new development in the built environment.
